Last June I had the opportunity to work with Stacy Annette Gonzalez on a glamour photo shoot. She is a writer and photographer based in Houston, TX, who wanted to celebrate her recovery from a traumatic event in her life.
Even though I am a boudoir photographer, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I approached our glamour photoshoot as if it were a portrait photography session. I wanted to make sure she would feel comfortable with glamour photos that were nothing like boudoir photos. There are other ways to celebrate herself as you’ll see.
Rather than to write about it myself, I asked her if she could share her experience.
Hi everyone, my name is Stacy of MedFullyStacy.
I’m a Houston blogger and PreMed student on the path to medicine for my dreams of becoming a doctor. It’s been a long journey. There are still milestones to reach and challenges to face, but I’ve made it this far, and there is no quitting now.
Glamour Photo Shoot Houston
The reason for wanting to shoot with Eduardo was to celebrate a unique challenge. One of the most physically taxing and debilitating roadblocks I’ve faced in my life, yet.
I wanted to celebrate having recovered from a 5mm herniated disc. All from a rear-end accident that occurred the first week of January 2018. I couldn’t walk for two weeks, and half of my body was nearly paralyzed and dysfunctional.
I was in physical therapy for over three months. I was not able to use my left arm, leg, or turn my neck without excruciating pain.
Even though I was going through this, I still went to school while doped up on the prescription pills. An assistant helped carry me around and drive me to all places because I couldn’t do it myself. I didn’t want to get behind on my academic journey.
I’m beyond thankful the accident was not worse, because it would have been devastating to put my dreams on hold.
I AM STRONG
The photoshoot was to reclaim my power and who I was before the accident. Who I am now is stronger, both emotionally and mentally.
I love how Eduardo made me feel empowered and comfortable during the photo shoot. He truly was a pleasure to work with, and I recommend him.
In retrospect, I hope you all have been inspired by the challenge I’ve faced on my journey.
Thank you, Stacy, for making me part of your journey.
